Type of play
- Must-hit-by (MHB) progressive-style counter chase. You’re exploiting the phoenix counter that must trigger a Hold & Spin before it reaches 1888.
What to look for
- The phoenix counter value (above reel 5). It increases when phoenix symbols land (about ~1.1 counter per spin on average).
- You want machines where the counter is already high, so you’re buying fewer spins to reach the forced trigger.
- Note: after a trigger, the counter resets to a random 100–1500, so “playable” starting points show up more often than older Buffalo Link-style games.
When to play (entry points)
- Baseline break-even entry point: around 1522 (based on typical assumptions like ~85% base return and ~25-unit average feature value).
- Best practice: use the Phoenix Link calculator (SlotMaps Tools) to set your own entry point for your denomination, volatility tolerance, and assumptions.
- Denomination guidance: higher denoms (and sometimes higher bet levels within a denom) may have slightly higher RTP, which can justify entering a bit earlier than you would at low denom—especially if the machine is a strong variant (see “Variants matter”).
