Type of play
- Must-Hit-By (MHB) progressive-style counter play. You’re exploiting the “buffalo head” counter that must trigger a bonus before it reaches 1800.
How the advantage works (what you’re buying)
- The buffalo head counter starts at 100 and the bonus must trigger at a random point between 100 and 1800.
- Heads accrue fast (~1.7 heads per spin), so the “cost to reach the trigger” is mainly the expected base-game loss while you wait.
- When it triggers, you get either:
- Hold & Spin (more consistent, still very volatile)
- 8 Free Games (feast/famine; usually small unless you retrigger—big retriggers and multiple Hold & Spins during free games can happen)
What to look for (on the floor)
- The buffalo head counter displayed above the 5th reel.
- You want a very high counter number (late in the 100–1800 cycle).
- Note: Buffalo Link is common (often banks of machines), but truly high counters are still relatively rare.
